Il 12 settembre 2015 The Great Whiz (castrone sauro del 2000 da Topsail Whiz X Shirleys Folly, by Great Pine) muore per eutanasia, a causa di una lesione traumatica. Queste le parole di Samantha Griffin:

“Ci dispiace di informare voi e l’industria del reining che The Great Whiz, 2003 NRHA FUTURITY OPEN CHAPION, è stato indotto in eutanasia oggi, 12 settembre, a causa di una lesione traumatica. Figlio dell’ 11 Million Dollar Sire Topsail Whiz e dalla top producer , Shirleys Folly, The Great Whiz, a.k.a.

The September 12, 2015 The Great Whiz (sorrel gelding 2000 by Topsail Whiz X Shirleys Folly, by Great Pine) dies by euthanasia, due to a traumatic injury. These are the words of Samantha Griffin:

“We regret to inform you and the reining industry THE GREAT WHIZ, the 2003 NRHA Open Futurity Champion, was euthanized today, September 12th, due to a traumatic injury. By NRHA $11,000,000 sire Topsail Whiz and out of top producing mare, Pines BH (Shirleys Folly ) The Great Whiz, aka Herman as he is known by almost everyone, not only topped the finals at the 2003 NRHA Futurity he also was the only horse at the time to out-right win BOTH go-rounds at the Futurity. He also broke the very long dry spell for geldings winning the NRHA Open Futurity Championship ridden by NRHA Million Dollar rider, Duane Latimer. ‘Herman’ was owned by NRHA’s first Million Dollar Owner, Lance Griffin, and loved by many. Throughout his career he won over $256,000, becoming NRHA’s highest money earning horse at the time. Not only was he a great show horse, but possibly the very best yearling stud boss babysitter there ever was. Although his life was cut short he will be remembered by all who crossed his path and the Industry lost a ‘Great One’ today.”
